The 2019 Geneva Motor Show was the site of the debut of the Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer Concept, which immediately heralded a new fourth generation of the Outlander crossover.

It is known that the concept car got its name in honor of one of the ski resorts in Switzerland, and its appearance demonstrates the new design direction of the company - "Mitsubishiness".

Unfortunately, the manufacturer turned out to be extremely stingy with information about its new product, but we tried to collect all the known facts about the car, which we hasten to share with you.

The appearance of the concept

Despite its futurism, the body of the conceptual Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer shows the trademark features of the latest production models of the company. The front of the crossover sports two-level optics, a huge false radiator grille with a large company logo in the center, as well as a monumental front bumper.

The profile is represented by massive wheel arches, spectacular sidewalls, stylish chrome elements, an almost perfectly flat roof and a massive C-pillar. Special attention should be paid to the exclusive alloy wheels and luggage trunks installed on the roof of the concept car.

The stylish and laconic stern shows off narrow side lights, a chrome pseudo-diffuser and a neat luggage compartment lid and a small spoiler.

The manufacturer decided not to disclose the exact dimensions of the car, but purely visually, the car has plus or minus comparable dimensions with the last serial Mitsubishi Outlander.

Tourer interior

The interior of the Mitsubishi Engelberg concept showcases a laconic front panel, where the manufacturer has placed a fully digital instrument panel, a stylish 4-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and a huge display of the infotainment center.

For front riders, spectacular seats with good lateral support and a lot of different adjustments are provided. A high tunnel runs between the seats, which in parallel acts as an armrest. It is equipped with a gearbox selector, a washer for switching transmission modes and several auxiliary buttons.

The second and third row of seats are free-standing seating, offering a level of comfort and equipment comparable to the front ones. There is more than enough free space in the cabin, and this applies to both the first and second, and the third row.

Separately, it is worth highlighting the presence of spectacular LED interior lighting, as well as high-quality finishing materials, among which natural and eco-leather, aluminum and soft plastics dominate. The volume of the luggage compartment is unknown.

Specifications Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer Concept 2019

According to reports, the concept car is equipped with a hybrid power plant, represented by a 2.4-liter gasoline unit and a pair of electric motors located on each of the crossover axles. The company has already used a similar solution in the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.

The manufacturer claims that the total range of the car reaches 700 km, while Engelberg is able to overcome about 70 km on electric traction alone.

The dynamic characteristics of the car are not named, and it is not known on what basis the concept was designed. However, this does not prevent us from assuming that the crossover is equipped with fully independent front and rear suspension.

High-performance disc mechanisms are responsible for braking the Engelberg Tourer, and the front ones are equipped with a ventilation system.

Price and equipment of the 2019 Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer Concept

Since Mitsubishi Engelberg is a conceptual model, there is no need to talk about its price and the final level of equipment. Nevertheless, the presented concept was equipped with:

  • LED head and rear optics;
  • LED DRL;
  • virtual dashboard;
  • 4-spoke multifunction steering wheel;
  • LED interior lighting;
  • climate control;
  • exclusive rims;
  • luggage trunks located on the roof;
  • electronic parking brake;
  • combined trim from natural and eco-leather;
  • built-in cameras instead of the usual external mirrors and other "cartoons".

Of course, most of the presented external and internal solutions will not reach the serial version of the model, but the company promised to keep the main "chips" that the concept was endowed with.

Conclusion

The Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer concept is a striking, memorable and high-tech crossover that clearly demonstrates the direction in which the company intends to develop its lineup in the foreseeable future.
