The history of the Lancia carmaker dates back to 1906, when the then-famous racer Vincenzo Lancia, together with his friend Claudio Foggolin, decided to start their own business. This is how a small enterprise “Fabbrica Automobili Lancia” appeared, which extremely quickly managed to break into the list of elite car manufacturers and gain great popularity among car enthusiasts.

In 1969, the manufacturer faced serious financial difficulties, as a result of which the company was bought by another automaker from Italy - the auto concern FIAT, after which a new round of development of the company began, which, unfortunately, could not become as successful as the previous period.

Lancia's reputation began to decline rapidly in the 90s, when car owners literally bombarded the company with complaints about the quality and reliability of its cars. But the situation began to change in the early 2000s with the release of such models as the Ypsilon hatchback, the Musa microvan and the updated Delta.

In 2012, the company's management presented the Flavia model, which is a stylish and presentable convertible, which is almost an exact copy of the Chrysler 200 Convertible. The car received an impressive size, good looks, as well as a rich list of equipment, which it inherited from its American counterpart. Looking ahead, we note that the car could not demonstrate record sales, but still found its buyer.

Exterior Lancia Flavia 2013

The appearance of the Lancia Flavia almost completely repeats that of the Chrysler 200 Convertible, which cannot be attributed to the car's shortcomings. Even today, the car looks stylish and quite modern, despite the fact that the official sales of the car started in 2013.

The front of the car attracts attention with the original head optics, a trapezoidal false radiator grille with large horizontal sipes, as well as an elegant front bumper, in which there are stylish foglights.

When looking at the car in profile, large alloy wheels R18, stylish stampings running along the side doors and, of course, the presence of a soft folding roof, which takes 28 seconds to lower and raise, are striking.

The sirloin of the car looks more impressive and presentable than the front. This is achieved with elegant tail lights, a minimalist rear bumper, a stylish chrome trim with the company's logo, and a stylish rear diffuser.

Vehicle dimensions:

  • Length - 4947 mm;
  • Width - 1843 mm;
  • Height - 1479 mm;
  • Wheelbase length is equal to 2760 mm, thanks to which four adult passengers can easily fit in the cabin.

Potential buyers can choose from a wide range of possible body colors, among which cherry and black lacquer paint looks especially stylish, which can be combined with either a black or beige soft roof.

In general, the car has a dynamic, modern and elegant exterior, where smooth lines and chrome body elements are successfully combined.

Flavia 2013 interior

The interior design of the car was also borrowed from the "two hundred" Chrysler. The architecture of the front dashboard to this day looks original and modern, while the use of exclusively high-quality and pleasant to the touch materials should be noted. Assembly and fitting of parts is also at a height and is in no way inferior to cars in a class above.

In front of the driver there is a multifunctional steering wheel, as well as a sporty-designed instrument panel, represented by three free-standing wells, where the main role is assigned to the speedometer. In the central part of the dashboard, there is a multimedia system unit, represented by a large LCD touch screen, as well as a simple but functional climate control unit, represented by three round twists. The front panel is complemented by a stylish analog clock located directly above the multimedia system.

The front seats have a pronounced anatomical profile, as well as well-felt lateral support, however, do not be fooled by this, since the car does not have a sporty character. Thanks to a wide range of adjustments, a person of any height and build can easily sit behind the wheel of a car.

Between the front seats there is a wide armrest, inside of which there is a special niche for various luggage. The rear seats are comfortable enough and offer passengers a little more headroom than most convertible competitors.

The volume of the trunk with the roof folded in it is only 198 liters, but when the roof is raised, the volume increases to 377 liters. In the underground luggage compartment there is a small compartment where a repair kit and a stowaway are hidden.

2013 Lancia Flavia specs

Unlike the Chrysler 200 Convertible, for which the luxurious Pentastar V6 engine is available, the Lancia Flavia is offered with a single 2.4-liter petrol four, developing 170 horsepower and a maximum 220 Nm of torque, which are transmitted to the front wheels.

As a transmission, an uncontested 6-band automatic transmission is offered. This set provides the car with acceleration from 0 to 100 in 10.8 seconds, and also allows you to develop a maximum 195 km / h. In this case, the fuel consumption is:

  • Urban cycle - about 13.5 l / 100 km;
  • Combined mode - 9-9.5 l / 100 km;
  • Country cycle - just over 7 l / 100 km.

The toxicity standards correspond to the Euro V standard, and the volume of the fuel tank is 64 liters, which allows you to overcome a little more than 600 km on one tank.

Lancia Flavia is based on the well-known Chrysler Sebring platform, which is still relevant thanks to a number of minor improvements. This platform assumes the presence of an independent suspension of the MacPherson type at the front and an independent suspension with pre-installed anti-roll bars at the rear.

Despite the impressive dimensions and curb weight of 1856 kg, the car has excellent handling, which is facilitated by a well-tuned suspension and the presence of a hydraulic booster. The car keeps a straight line well and copes with almost any irregularities with dignity.

Safety Lancia Flavia 2013

Lancia engineers have gone to great lengths to equip the vehicle with a wide range of passive and active safety systems, including:

  • Anti-lock braking system;
  • ESC system to prevent side skids;
  • Multilevel front and side airbags, the force of which depends on the force of the collision;
  • Active head restraint system;
  • Cruise control;
  • ISOFIX child seat mountings;
  • Three-point seat belts with pretensioners;
  • Immobilizer;
  • Central locking;
  • Ventilated disc brakes at the front and conventional disc brakes at the rear, and much more.

Despite its form factor, the car can easily be used for traveling with the whole family, which is facilitated not only by a high level of safety, but also by a roomy interior by the standards of the class, which has practically no analogues among competitors equipped with a folding roof.

Options and cost of Lancia Flavia 2013

Unfortunately, or fortunately, on the European market, the car is offered only in one, the maximum configuration, which includes the following set of equipment and systems:

  • Light alloy wheels R18;
  • Fog lights integrated in the front bumper;
  • Multifunctional steering wheel, finished with high quality genuine leather;
  • Center console with analogue clock positioned in the center;
  • Multimedia system Uconnect, represented by a 6.5-inch multitouch LCD display, built-in 40 GB hard drive and voice control;
  • Multilevel front and side airbags;
  • ABS and ESC system;
  • Active head restraints;
  • Cruise control;
  • Central locking;
  • Electronic system of exchange rate stability;
  • Leather interior trim;
  • Boston Acoustics audio system with 6 speakers;
  • Branded navigation system;
  • Automatically folding soft roof;
  • Climate control;
  • Rear LED optics;
  • Ventilated disc brakes at the front and conventional disc brakes at the rear;
  • 6-speed automatic transmission;
  • Immobilizer and more.

For such an impressive set of equipment, the automaker asks for 33 thousand euros, but it is difficult to judge whether this is a high price or not, since the car has practically no competitors in its class.

Conclusion on Lancia Flavia

Despite the fact that the Lancia Flavia is almost a complete clone of the Chrysler 200 Convertible, the perception of the car is completely different. The reason for this is a slightly reconfigured suspension, an expanded list of basic and optional equipment, as well as a preinstalled 2.4-liter engine, which, despite its considerable volume, is conducive to a more measured and imposing ride.

This car is ideal for people who love the Lancia brand, as well as want a stylish and modern convertible in maximum performance for reasonable money. For those who are a fan of sporty style and frisky dynamics, the car will not work, even despite the Lancia nameplate flaunting on the car.
