This is a cheap four-wheel drive option that, even before the trial was released, made as much noise as perhaps no other car in history could have done. The designers decided not to make big changes, but to dance from what is. And what did the former Duster have? It had a simplicity that, combined with all-wheel drive, reliability and low price, became the subject of worship of many motorists.

The front end has been almost completely redesigned. From this perspective, the SUV looks somewhat angry, on the one hand, it is ridiculous. It feels like it will burst now. On the other hand, the designers managed to emphasize a wide enough track for its class, massive wheel arches that accommodate a solid suspension travel. They were inherited from the last generation.

The headlights now have a quirky, multi-section shape that looks pretty cute in the dark, especially if the running lights alone are on. Now Duster will stand out in the stream. The lower edge of the bumper is not painted in body color in any configuration. However, this does not harm the car's appearance in the least. This color only helps to emphasize the off-road qualities. The mistakes of the past were taken into account: the fog lights are now inserted higher, which reduces the risk of damage, and also, they stay clean longer. A small decorative bumper for aluminum is inserted in the center.

In fact, special additional equipment is installed on the 2015 Renault Duster for Russia, which also includes a steel crankcase. If earlier it was only in options, now it is included in the list of standard equipment.

The profile has also undergone some changes, but the look has remained very recognizable. It is here that you can see the entire relief of the wheel arches, and there really is something to see. In the first two trim levels, steel wheels are installed on the car, and higher - 16-inch castings. Here you can also pay attention to the new roof rails, which are now marked "Duster", as well as become much more massive.

There are many details from Logan and Sandero visible here, but if they were not there, and each part was made for a separate model, then Renault Duster would not be so cheap. Interestingly, the same Dacia has no differences at all.

It is immediately noticeable that the car is not only for the driver. This is expressed in a large number of shelves and drawers for small things, which the entire interior teems with: the glove compartment, a niche on the panel, in the front door cards, in the rear door cards, in the armrest. Perhaps this is enough to lay down all your property, and not carry it in your pockets.

Now let's see from the driver's seat. Here we have a multifunctional wheel, which, depending on the configuration, allows you to control the phone, music volume, cruise control speed.

The driver's seat, despite the mechanical adjustments, can be adjusted in height, which is important for a car of this class. The instrument panel is typical for this platform: two chrome rings, in which two scales are enclosed, there are no arrow indicators for engine temperature and fuel level - only on the on-board computer display, which is located on the right.

From the driver's seat in Renault Duster it is quite difficult to manage some things. The thing is that the center console is located almost vertically here, and in order, for example, to turn the climate control settings (it is single-zone here), you will have to distract from the road and bend over.

The drive adjustments are easier, despite the fact that they are lower. The driver simply will not "poke" them so often. Slightly higher there can be a niche for anything, either a CD changer or a touchscreen display with a shaped Media Nav interface. Unlike soplatformennikov, the control of the window lifters is much better implemented here. The buttons are located next to the door handles, and not on the center console, as is done by the same Logan.

The front row seats are worthy of special attention. Of course, the car is not for a seasoned off-road, but it is capable of a lot. Therefore, the seats have excellent, very developed lateral support, have sufficient rigidity to hold riders in the event of a rocking car.

The rear sofa is also quite rigid, it has not changed much, except for the finish. As before, it folds up without forming a flat floor. It doesn’t matter, because in the normal position the trunk volume is 408 liters, and when folded it is 1636 liters. It is difficult to take with you so much luggage that would not fit here.

Before the presentation of the updated Renault Duster, representatives of the company argued that the car has become much more powerful, enduring and more reliable. The engine range has been completely redesigned. This is true. The engines are essentially the same. They have slightly changed the timing, as well as the settings of the control unit.

In the basic configuration, 1.6 is installed on the car, with a capacity of 114 horses. He used to train 102 horses. The old version is now being installed on the second generation of Logans and Sandero. This has added dynamics, and now the updated Duster accelerates to the first 100 km / h in 13.2 seconds. This despite the fact that such an engine is available only with a 6-speed gearbox and all-wheel drive. Diesel consumption in the city, according to the manufacturer, is 5.6 liters in the city.

The top engine is available both with automatic transmission and mechanics, but only with all-wheel drive. It develops 143 horses, in the case of a machine gun, the maximum accelerates to 174 km / h. Moreover, he will exchange the first hundred in 11.5 seconds. Not bad.Only now the consumption of 1.3 liters in the city is somehow not impressive, given that it is almost impossible to achieve the officially declared one.

With the mechanics, the consumption will be 10.1 liters. The same number of seconds is required for a car to reach a speed of 100 km / h. The maximum is 180 km / h. In general, good performance for an average crossover, given the all-wheel drive on board, considerable windage and a volume of 2 liters.

This is the name of the base. There can be a mono-drive (for 599 thousand rubles) or four-wheel drive, which will cost an additional 100,000 rubles. Steering column height adjustment, electric drive and heated mirrors, front power windows, immobilizer, central locking, moldings, roof rails - all this is included in the price of 868 thousand with a 2-liter engine.

The options are invisible here. Approximately 100 thousand. This amount will include standard navigation, heated front seats, rear parking sensors, molding, passenger airbag, third rear headrest, cruise control, hill start assist, directional stability system, heated windshield and fog lights. All this joy with all the options will cost 13,000 €.

Privilege

The list of additional equipment in this configuration is not as long as in the previous one, but the standard equipment is much richer. Here you can choose any engine, but only with four-wheel drive, which is logical. There is an on-board computer, a cruise, a leather steering wheel, moldings, foglights and many pleasant things.

In the optional equipment, you can get a rear view camera, rear power windows, ESP, hill start assist, rear parking sensors, as well as a passenger airbag. Apart from all the options, the price of the new Duster will be 894 thousand rubles (12,000 €). The cost of the options is about 75 thousand.

Privilege Lux

The top-end configuration, oddly enough, is not equipped with navigation, ESP and HSA. They can only be obtained for an additional fee. There is a leather interior, all of the above is available, including the opiums of the previous trim levels. With all the "dopas" this version will cost 985 thousand rubles (13,250 €).

Conclusion

Well what can I say? I would like to look for competitors of the new Duster. And he is - the previous Duster. But it's older, simpler, cheaper. It's second-hand. And there is simply no more car with similar characteristics for such an amount. Unsurprisingly, over a million copies have already been sold. And the surprising thing is that the co-platform Nissan Terrano costs 829 thousand in the database. And this is with the old 102-horsepower engine. Somewhere the world has turned in the wrong direction during development ...
